Resolution Appropriating $100,000 from the General Fund to Hampton Industrial Development Authority for the Virginia Phillpot Manufacturing Extension Partnership (VPMEP).

 

WHEREAS, the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Hampton, Virginia (the Authority) was created for the purpose of promoting industry and developing trade by inducing manufacturing, industrial and commercial enterprises to locate in the City, as well as to promote and encourage the creation and development of new businesses in the City; and

 

WHEREAS, the Virginia Phillpot Manufacturing Extension Partnership (VPMEP) can provide assistance to Hamptons manufacturers enabling them to become more competitive, expand and create jobs resulting in a stronger manufacturing tax base; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council has determine it to be in its best interest to support our manufacturing companies through the creation of a formal program to assist Hampton manufacturers;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia that the sum of $100,000.00 be appropriated from the General Fund to the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Hampton, Virginia to be dispersed to the Virginia Phillpot Manufacturing Extension Partnership for services rendered under Hamptons Manufacturing Assistance Program.

 

Adopted at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia held on November 7, 2007.
