Hampton History Museum - Collection Storage Area

 

 

RESOLUTION

 

A resolution appropriating $20,000 from Bond Contingency Fund for the build out of the Hampton History Museums Collection Storage Area in the Healthy Families Building.

 

WHEREAS, the Hampton History Museum had planned for the build out of a space in the adjacent Healthy Families building when the Museum was constructed; and

 

WHEREAS, this space is needed to properly store historical artifacts that can be accessed and researched in order to increase the knowledge and interpretation of Hamptons history; and

 

WHEREAS, the estimated cost to build out the space is now $90,000; and

 

WHEREAS, the Hampton History Museum Association has offered to pay half of the cost of building out the space, or $45,000; and

WHEREAS, there is a balance of $25,000 in appropriated City funds for the project, leaving a shortfall of $20,000.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that $20,000 is hereby appropriated from Bond Contingency Fund for the build out of the Hampton History Museums Collection Area in the Healthy Families building.

 

Adopted at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia held on December 14, 2006.
