Enactment Number: -

Resolution authorizing the appropriation of $35,000 from the Economic Development Fund to the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Hampton, Virginia for professional services.

WHEREAS, the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Hampton, Virginia (the Authority) was created by the City Council of Hampton, Virginia on February 27, 1985, for the purpose of promoting industry and developing trade by inducing manufacturing, industrial and commercial enterprises to locate in the City, as well as to promote and encourage the creation and development of new businesses in the City;

  WHEREAS, in support of its legislative purposes and activities, the Authority currently maintains an inventory of approximately 600 acres in real property;

  WHEREAS, maintenance of the said inventory for ultimate sale and transfer requires services which the Authoritys staff cannot perform in-house, thus necessitating the use of professional service contractors to aid in furtherance of the sale and transfer of Authority owned property; and

  WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Hampton has determined that additional professional services will assist in the sale and enhance the marketability of the Authority-owned property by maintaining an inventory with current appraisals, accurate surveys and environmental and engineering studies.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia, that the sum of $35,000 be appropriated from the Economic Development Fund to the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Hampton, Virginia to hire professional service contractors to perform certain services in furtherance of the sale or transfer of Authority-owned properties.
