RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF 110 A, 112 AND 114 EAST COUNTY STREET FROM THE HAMPTON REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY.

 

WHEREAS, the subject property located at 110A, 112 and 114 East County Street is a vacant parcel of land being sold by the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority to the City of Hampton at its current assessed value of $41,600.00. This parcel of land is zoned commercial (C-2) and consists of 15,827 + square feet. It is being acquired by the City with the intent to gift the land to the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center Foundation, Inc. (the Foundation) to be used as surface parking by the New American Theatre (Theatre); and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has determined that purchase of property and subsequent gift of the property to be used for surface parking by the Foundation and the Theatre will improve the image and economic vitality of the Foundation and the Theatre and is therefore in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Hampton.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council for the City of Hampton, Virginia, that it hereby approves the terms of the purchase of the property located at 110A, 112 and 114 East County Street, Hampton, Virginia from the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority for the consideration of $41,600; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be authorized to accept the conveyance of the property on behalf of the City of Hampton.
