Resolution to accept and appropriate the 2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grant on behalf of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

 

WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded the 2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grant to the City of Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue (HDFR) in the amount of $168,964 in state funds and $42,240 in a cash match from HDFRs FY14 budget, for a total award of $211,204; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant award covers the period of June 28, 2013 through June 27, 2014; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant will support a Health & Wellness plan that supports NFPA 1582 compliance for entry level physicals, periodic health screenings, immunizations and a behavioral health program for career and volunteer members;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia accepts and appropriates the 2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $168,964 in state funds, in accordance with the grant agreement and authorizes matching funds in the amount of $42,240 from HDFRs FY14 budget, in accordance with the grant agreement;

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the City Manager to take the necessary steps to implement this grant award.
