Resolution in Recognition of Christopher G. Stuart

 

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Christopher G. Stuart was born on September 15th, 1969; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1987, he graduated from Warwick High School; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1992, Mr. Stuart earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia; and

 

WHEREAS, he furthered his education at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia, where he earned a Master of Arts Degree in History in 1993; and

 

WHEREAS, he married his high school sweetheart, Nicole Suzette Maust Stuart, a native of Hampton, and the couple has five children, Shelby Grace Stuart, Chance Jersey Stuart, Cooper Christopher Stuart, Brody Cole Stuart and Darby Anne Stuart; and

 

WHEREAS, Christopher G. Stuart honorably served the City of Hampton from July 2010-July 2014, as a Council Member; and

 

WHEREAS, currently, Mr. Stuart holds the title of Vice President at Top Guard Security, a uniformed private security services firm which he and his wife have grown to a staff of over 600, which has been headquartered in Downtown Hampton since its founding in 1996; and

 

WHEREAS, having started working in the uniformed private security field in March of 1988, Mr. Stuart has held membership in the American Society of Industrial Security, the Private Investigators & Security Association, is Past President of the Fraternal Order of Polices Associates Lodge 26 (Hampton) and is the Past President of the Virginia Security Association; additionally he served on the Commonwealth of Virginias Department of Criminal Justice Services Private Security Services Advisory Board; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Stuart is a current and former member of many leadership groups and organizations in the community including Rotary International, the Peninsula, Hampton Roads and Virginia Chambers of Commerce, is a graduate of the CIVIC Leadership Institute Class of 2012, LEAD Peninsula Class of 2014, LEAD Hampton Roads Class of 2014, and is currently a member of the LEAD Virginia Class of 2015; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Stuart has served on many Hampton Boards and Commissions, including Hampton Bay Days, the Hampton Arts Commission, the Downtown Hampton Childhood Development Center, the Hampton Roads Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions, Inc. (H.E.L.P.), Hampton Social Services Local Advisory Board, Langley Civic Leaders Association, Virginia Air & Space Center; and regional service on the Greater Peninsula Workforce Development Consortium and the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Stuarts dedication to the arts have included service as the President of the Peninsula Fine Arts Center, the Hampton Arts Commission and the Cultural Alliance of Greater Hampton Roads; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Stuarts service and dedication to education includes the New Horizons Regional Education Center Career and Technical Council, the Board of Trustees for Thomas Nelson Community College, the Foundation Boards of Thomas Nelson Community College and Tidewater Community College and the Alumni Association Board of Old Dominion University; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Stuarts commitment to the Maritime Industry includes Board service and Committee Chairmanships in the Virginia Maritime Association, the Virginia Ship Repair Foundation, the Hampton Roads Global Commerce Council and the Propeller Club; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2012, Mr. Stuart was placed on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Commission by Virginias Governor, Robert F. McDonnell.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia, that Christopher G. Stuart be, and hereby is, recognized and commended for his commitment to the Hampton City Council and the citizens of the City of Hampton.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the June 11, 2014, City Council meeting of the City of Hampton, Virginia, and that an appropriate copy be signed by the Mayor, attested by the Clerk, and presented to Christopher G. Stuart.

 

Adopted at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia held on June 11, 2014.
