Resolution Authorizing Execution of Memorandum Of Agreement Between The City Of Hampton And The School Board Of The City Of Hampton Regarding Community PEG TV

 

 

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, the City of Hampton (the City) and the School Board of the City of Hampton (the School Board) share a mutual interest in the advancement of the excellence of the public, education and government (or "PEG") cable television channels provided through the City's franchise agreements with local cable television providers;

WHEREAS, the Hampton City Council and School Board have a joint interest in promoting quality programming to facilitate effective and appropriate use of the PEG channels;

WHEREAS, the Hampton City Council and School Board seek to assure that all PEG channels are managed in an efficient, cost effective manner for the mutual benefit of the City, the Schools and the Community;

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the public interest is best served by pursuing a collaborative venture with the School Board to manage the PEG channels as a community resource that serves the needs of both parties.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia that the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into and execute on behalf of the City a Memorandum of Agreement in substantially the form and on substantially those terms and conditions set forth in Exhibit A hereto, in order to implement Councils intent that the City and School Board jointly manage the Citys and School Boards cable television operations.

 

Adopted at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia, held on the 12th day of May, 2010.
