Resolution of the City Council of
the City of Hampton, Virginia of its Intent to Adopt an Ordinance Establishing
a Council-Appointed Citizen Board of Commissioners of the Hampton Redevelopment
and Housing Authority and Repealing the Current Ordinance Establishing the
Council as Commissioner.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Hampton
(Council) on July 1, 1976, designated itself, by ordinance, the commissioners
of the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (HRHA); and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of
Hampton, Virginia, specifically Section 3.09 thereof, provides that the Council
may at any time repeal such ordinance designating itself the commissioners and
appoint residents of the City to serve as the commissioners; and
WHEREAS, the Council intends to repeal
non-coded Ordinance number 239 designating itself commissioners of the HRHA and
to appoint residents of the city to serve as commissioners.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HAMPTON, VIRGINIA:
That it is the intent of the
Council to adopt an ordinance, effective July 1, 2007, repealing ordinance
number 239 designating itself commissioners of the HRHA and appoint residents
of the City to serve as the commissioners.
That the commissioners will consist
of seven (7) residents, one of whom will be a person who receives public
assistance from the HRHA, as required by federal law.

City of Hampton, Virginia held on January 24, 2007.
