Fox Hill Road / Woodland Road Intersection Improvements - Engineering Services Project No. 00-003

 

RESOLUTION APPROVING THE LOCATION AND MAJOR DESIGN FEATURES OF THE FOX HILL ROAD/WOODLAND ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT AND APPROPRIATING $622,500 FOR THE PROJECT FROM THE VDOT URBAN CONSTRUCTION REVENUE ACCOUNT/CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND

 

WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation(VDOT) had programmed a project to widen the intersection of Fox Hill Road and Woodland Road, at the request of Council; and

 

WHEREAS, the Fox Hill Road/Woodland Road Intersection Improvements project is now ready to be advertised for construction bids; and

 

WHEREAS, prior to this advertisement, VDOT requires that the Council approve the location and major design features of the project; and

 

WHEREAS, a Notice of Willingness to Hold a Public Hearing was posted for the purpose of considering the location and major design features of the project (VDOT UPC 52364/Engineering Services Project No. 00-003) in the City of Hampton; and

WHEREAS, no requests were received, such that a public hearing is not required; and

 

WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the project is $625,000, of which 80% ($500,000) is federally funded, 19.6% ($122,500) is VDOT-funded, and 0.4% ($2,500) is City-funded; and

 

WHEREAS, an appropriation of $622,500 is necessary from VDOT Urban Construction Revenues/Capital Projects Fund for the federal and state cost share of the project, with VDOT to reimburse the city for the federal share.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby approves the location and major design features of the Fox Hill Road/Woodland Road Intersection Improvements project.

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $622,500 is hereby appropriated for the project from the VDOT Urban Construction Revenue Account/Capital Projects Fund with VDOT to reimburse the City for the federal share (80%) of the construction cost, on a monthly basis as bills are paid by the City.

 

BE IS STILL FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to acquire any rights of way necessary for this project and certify same to VDOT.

 

BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Hampton, any and all necessary contracts and closing documents in conjunction with acquiring such rights of way.
