Resolution Approving the City of Hampton, Virginia's Participation and Appropriation of the 2013-2014 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Program through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.

 

WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services has awarded the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (in Prevention and Education) to the City of Hampton in the amount of $69,681 in federal funds and $3,667 in cash/in-kind match (provided by Hampton City Schools), for a total award of $73,348; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant award covers the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hampton accepts and appropriates the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $73,348 and any related supplemental funding by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services in accordance with the grant agreement;

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the City Manager, or his designee, to take the necessary steps to implement this grant award.
