Canty, Director of School/Community Investments who announced that, for second year in a row, Hampton has been named as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People. Information was also presented by Gregory Harrison, Chairman of Hampton's Youth Commission; Cindy Carlson, Director of the Coalition for Youth; Art Thatcher, Superintendent of Parks and Recreation; Debbie Russell, Resource Development Manager with Healthy Families Partnership; Charlene Johnson, Healthy Families Partnership participant; Katherine Fox, Curriculum Leader for the 21st Century Learning Program; Charlene Jones, of Youth Career Cafe'; Adrian Howard, a Youth Career Cafe' volunteer and participant; Kathy Johnson and Allison Graul of Alternatives, Inc.; and Marshae Tyson, a member of the Principal's Advisory Group at Hampton High School. Councilwoman Leary presented the award which she accepted from America's Promise on behalf of the City of Hampton at a presentation in Washington, DC.
