RESOLUTION TO REQUIRE THE TOWING ADVISORY

BOARD TO MEET AT LEAST ANNUALLY

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Resolution #00-22-42 was adopted on November 8, 2000, pursuant to the Code of Virginia, Section 46.2-1217 authorizing local governing bodies to regulate police-requested towing; and

WHEREAS, said Resolution also created the Towing Advisory Board; and

WHEREAS, said Board was charged with several duties including the duty to meet at least quarterly;

WHEREAS, the Board has now recommended that the requirement of quarterly meetings be changed to annual meetings; and

WHEREAS, since there are frequent changes in the assignments of law enforcement personnel, it is recommended that Council grant to the City Manager the authority to name the two law enforcement representatives to this board.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hampton charges the Towing Advisory Board to meet at least annually at a location to be provided by the Hampton Police Division. All other requirements of Resolution #00-22-42 remain the same.
