An Ordinance to Amend the Code Of the City Of Hampton, Virginia, By Amending and Re-Enacting Chapter 30, Article III, Section 30-48 Pertaining to Sewer User Surcharge Fee.

 

 

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia, that the Code of the City of Hampton, Virginia, be amended and re-enacted to read as follows:

 

Sec. 30-48. Amount.

 

The user charge for all persons shall be one and 48/100 dollar ($1.48) for each one hundred (100) cubic feet of water consumption.

 

In addition, a surcharge of forty-four cents ($0.44) for each one hundred (100) cubic feet, or fraction thereof, of water consumption shall be imposed to pay for extraordinary engineering fees, operating costs and infrastructure costs imposed by the Regional Consent Order of the State Water Control Board for the purpose of minimization of sanitary sewer overflows.

 

This ordinance shall be effective and the charges applied to billings made by the City of Newport News, Virginia on and after July 1, 2009.

Adopted at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia held on May 13, 2009.
