Overview of the Police Department
Presented by Chief Chuck Jordan.
Use of golf carts on public roads
Information presented by Deputy City Attorney Lesa Yeatts, Police Chief Chuck Jordan, and Public Works Director Ted Henifin. Steve Mallon, Bob Harper, Artie Hassalquiest, and Mark Wimmer also spoke on the issue. Council requested the City Manager to proceed with drafting the appropriate ordinance.
Army Corps of Engineers presentation on plans for the Fort Monroe seawall
Presented by Larry Holland of the Army Corps of Engineers. Alvin Bryant, John Ishon and Bob Harper, citizen members of the Federal Area Development Authority were present.
Councilwoman Leary requested additional information on the CAFR as per the City Manager's memo of December 30, 2005. She also indicated that her attendance at the National League of Cities conference was very productive and she purchased the seminars on CD for use by the City Manager and City staff.
Vice Mayor Joseph Spencer indicated that he had been contacted by Thomas R. Griffin with respect to his concerns concerning the redesign of Chesapeake Avenue. Mr.Griffin addressed Council briefly and provided information which he has compiled. Council requested that the City Manager look into Mr. Griffin's concerns.
