MAYOR'S COMMENTS
  The Mayor introduced a presentation on dredging which was presented by Chuck Fleming, P.E., City of Hampton Public Works Department. Information was also presented by Ken Dierks of Kimley-Horn & Associates.

The Mayor also allowed those present to speak on the dredging issue to speak at this time. There were six speakers on the issue.

The City Manager also made brief comments on his plans with respect to the breach at Factory Point.

15.07-0240An ordinance to set the tax rate on tangible personal property, motor vehicles specially equipped to provide transportation for physically handicapped individuals, machinery and tools, and privately owned pleasure boats and watercraft used for recreational purposes only, and recreational vehicles in the City of Hampton, Virginia for the calendar year beginning January 1, 2008 and ending December 31, 2008.
ACTION: Adopted on First Reading - Councilman Tignor proposed that the Clerk be requested to advertise a public hearing on a proposal to set the tax on private, recreational boats (as described in the proposed ordinance) at .50 per $100.00 of assessed value in that a public hearing is required on a tax increase and it requires seven (7) days advance notice. It was the consensus of Council that the Clerk do so.
