  The meeting was called to order at 1:01 p.m.
1.11-0328Hampton City Schools' Presentation on Workforce Development Initiatives
ACTION: Presented by Dr. Linda Shifflette, Superintendent of Hampton City Schools, along with Jesse White, Career and Technical Education Director, Dr. Patricia Johnson, Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction Pre K-12 and Penny Peterson, Director of School Counseling/Guidance.
2.11-0327Briefing on Recommended Changes to Animal Control Ordinance
ACTION: Presented by James Gray, Assistant City Manager, and Lesa Yeatts, Senior Deputy City Attorney.
3.11-0298Downtown Parking Garage
ACTION: Council heard questions from Councilman Tuck regarding the parking garage contained in the bond issue approved in June. The City Manager responded.

4.11-0299Briefing on the Status of Ft. Monroe
ACTION: Presented by Mayor Ward who indicated that she may be traveling to Washington, DC next week to testify on the pending legislation with respect to the potential for a National Park. She stated that she is pleased that Glenn Oder is now a resident and is excited about the progress he is making on Fort Monroe.

Ms. Bunting stated that the City has signed some leases, one of which is for the community center, and one is anticipated for police use. She anticipates others soon for the beaches, promenade, tennis courts, etc. which will allow public access.

Ms. Bunting shared that Mr. Oder plans to meet with Council at the October 26th session.
