Call to Order
Mayor Wallace called the meeting to order at 1:04 p.m. All members of the City Council were present at roll call.
FY-16 Budget Work Session
Presented by Mary Bunting, City Manager, and Brian DeProfio, Director of Budget and Strategic Initiatives.
Councilman Tuck inquired about bus shelters and who is responsible for them. Following a discussion, it was shared that, while Hampton Roads Transit is responsible, Hampton tries to put additional funding to it so that we can expedite getting them.
Councilman Tuck inquired about getting 'Welcome to Hampton' signs on I-64 and I-664.
Closed session pursuant to Virginia Code Sections 2.2-3711.A.3, .5 and .7 to discuss or consider the acquisition of real property in the Downtown Hampton area for a public purpose, where discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect the bargaining position or negotiating strategy of the City, to have a discussion concerning a prospective business or industry or the expansion of an existing business or industry where no previous announcement has been made of the business’ or industry’s interest in locating or expanding its facilities in Hampton and to consult with legal counsel employed or retained by a public body regarding a specific zoning legal matter requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel and to consult with legal counsel regarding specific legal matters pertaining to confidential transactions affecting the Buckroe, Phoebus and Fort Monroe areas requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel.

Resolution Certifying Closed Session
Adopted - Following the certification of the closed session, Mayor Wallace shared that he had invited Ezra Hill to sing the National Anthem at the evening session of City Council. Katherine Glass, Clerk of Council, also indicated that the School Board intends to announce and vote upon the new Superintendent at their evening session. They will provide information once the vote takes place so that the Mayor may announce the Superintendent's selection at the evening City Council meeting. The meeting adjourned at 3:52 p.m.
