MAYOR'S COMMENTS
  Mayor Kearney clarified that, in the absence of Councilman Clary and Councilman Washington, an affirmative vote would require a four vote majority as opposed to a 3-2 vote.

The Mayor invited the public to a groundbreaking ceremony for the Buckroe Pier on Friday, March 14, 2008, at 2 p.m.

Councilwoman Leary indicated that item #08-0092 concerning the limits around the Buckroe Beach pier will be removed from the agenda.

6.08-0095Discussion of Mill Point Streetlights
ACTION: Council heard from the City Manager on this issue. In February, the Manager recommended that the City not begin paying for streetlights in the Mill Point area. Council had several questions which the City Manager researched and he has not changed his recommendation. Council was provided with the research on the issue. There were several speakers who spoke in favor of the City of Hampton paying this expense.

Vice Mayor Gilliland suggested that an additional effort be made to communicate with Dominion Virginia Power in an effort to resolve this issue.

Hugh Bassette had some questions concerning the recent sale of the Radisson / Hampton Marina Hotel. The City Manager indicated that he would be communicating with the Daily Press to schedule a press conference to outline the facts involved in this situation.
