  Vice Mayor Joseph H. Spencer gave the invocation.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO FLAG -
  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by representatives of Girl Scout Troop 1031.
MAYOR'S COMMENTS
  Mayor Ward welcomed Mary Bunting to her first official meeting as Hampton's new City Manager.

Mayor Ward also indicated that on Tuesday, January 19th, at 2 p.m. there will be a press conference by Peninsula Town Center announcing fifty new stores which will be opening.

Councilman George Wallace gave a statement concerning the City's actions in response to a construction situation on Cannonball Circle.

REPORTS BY CITY MANAGER, CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, COMMITTEES
Audiences Granted to the General Public
  Eddie Deerfield wished everyone a Happy New Year and spoke about Council's responsiveness to citizens and his hope that more citizens will become involved.

Joan Charles spoke on civic engagement and requested that City Council explain at the next meeting the reason for changing the Council meetings from two evening meetings to one evening meeting each month.

Donnie Tuck spoke in opposition to funds being spent on construction of a new court house. Hugh Bassette spoke on the same topic and also spoke on the city budget and his desire for funds to be spent in Old Northampton. He also spoke about his desire that a boat tax be reinstated.

Frank J. Ottofaro spoke on the taking of his property on Pine Chapel Road.

John Krulis spoke on the events of September 11, 2001, his love of the people of Hampton, and his dissatisfaction with the way the City's business is done.

Edwin Boone spoke in favor of the Council candidacy of Donnie Tuck and about the Purchasing and Procument Oversight Committee and encouraged citizens to attend.

Rev. James Rudisill spoke on the needs of the homeless in Hampton and his request for the use of the Armory building to house the homeless.

Johnnie Carroll spoke about the condition of the Armory building.

Bob Nuckles spoke about Constitutional rights.

Willie Dawes spoke about his construction issues on Cannonball Circle.

  Councilwoman Leary shared information on citizen engagement meetings she will be holding in various areas of Hampton on budget and storm-related issues.
