Briefing on the New Circuit Courthouse
ACTION:
Presented by James A. "Pete" Peterson, Assistant City Manager.
Chief Judge Wilford Taylor, Jr. spoke and was accompanied by Judge Louis R. Lerner who also made brief remarks. Judge Taylor explained that Judge Christopher W. Hutton and Judge Bonnie L. Jones were unable to attend as they were presiding over cases.
Additional information on the courthouse design was provided by Wiley Cooke of MMM Design Group and Frank Green of Ricci Greene Associates.
Following a short recess, Steve Bennett of Tim Haahs Engineers and Architects and Pete Sadowski of Clark-Nexsen Architecture and Engineering also provided information with respect to the parking garage.
ACTION:
Moved to suspend the financing for the Circuit Courthouse project for two years to get a sense of where the economy is going.

New Business
Councilman Kearney shared that he and other members of Council attending the rededication of Spratley and he was impressed with its cleanliness. He asked that the City Manager update Council on any response received to the school condition concerns expressed by Ms. Eula Robbins and Ms. Barbara Burge. He also inquired as to the status of reinstating the School Board / City Council buddy system. He also would like to include some legislation regulating mopeds.
Councilwoman Leary echoed the moped concern.
