CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
  Mayor Wallace called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. with all of the members of City Council being present.
INVOCATION - Councilman W. H. "Billy" Hobbs Jr.
  The invocation was given by Councilman Hobbs.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO FLAG -
  Preschoolers from Community Presbyterian Preschool helped lead the Pledge of Allegiance and then sang "Grand Old Flag." Following the song, Councilwoman Schmidt presented Lori Ward, the director of the preschool, with a City of Hampton coin.
MAYOR'S COMMENTS
  Mayor Wallace welcomed Angeline Camus, an exchange student from Vendome, France, one of Hampton's sister cities.

REPORTS BY CITY MANAGER, CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, COMMITTEES
  Councilman Tuck requested that the city try to find a way to install sidewalks along Mercury Boulevard generally in the area of Coliseum Central.

He also shared that Hampton's youth made excellent presentations last week at the opening of the Performance Learning Center and he was also proud of Hampton's youth and their conduct at a recent NAACP event where they sat on the floor so adults could have seats and Police Chief Sult joined them. He expressed pride and thankfulness that our police department and youth demonstrate such different behavior than we may see in other localities.
Miscellaneous New Business
Public Comment
  Linda Seely requested a dedicated animal control technician responsible for trapping cats.

Chuck Leavines spoke on behalf of Hampton Bay Days and outlined many awards they have received and took issue with some information recently distributed by the City of Hampton. The Bay Days Foundation has decided to cancel the event for 2015 and will be returning the money allocated by the city for that event.

Edward Sean Robinson shared information on the Hampton Clean City Commission to include information on the recent Save the Bay clean up event. He also shared information on the extremely high percentage of Hampton households who participate in recycling.

Edwin M. Boone was called upon to speak but was not present to do so.

Frank Ottofaro, Jr. spoke on the Ottofaro case and eminent domain law.
Adjournment
  Vice Mayor Curtis shared a story in the Daily Press the other day about Hampton students who created a dish in a NASA competition. She also mentioned that Brian DeProfio, Budget Director and Special Projects Manager, was recently honored by NASA and the Council is very proud of him.

Councilwoman Snead stated that she is concerned that it has taken so long to hire a cat trapper which is a WAE position. She asked that the City Manager please report back on this issue so perhaps a solution can be found. Councilman Moffett echoed Ms. Snead's comments.

Mayor Wallace shared that he attended the Honors Program for Hampton City School high school graduates last week and was impressed by the abilities of the students there. He had a similar experience at a ceremony he attended for fifth graders at Kraft Elementary where a large number of students had perfects scores on their testing.
