Call to Order
  The meeting was called to order at 8:36 a.m. All members of City Council were present except for Councilman Stuart and Councilman Tuck. Also present were City staff members Mary Bunting (City Manager), Jeff Sachs (Interim City Attorney), Katherine Glass (Clerk of Council), and Robin McCormick (Communications Strategist). The facilitators were also present: Jim Oliver, Suzanne Puryear and Zin White, Jr. along with Robert Brauchle of the Daily Press.

At approximately 8:54 a.m., Vanessa T. Valldejuli, Hampton's next City Attorney, and Edwin Boone, a Hampton citizen, arrived.

Councilman Stuart arrived at 9:43 a.m.
1.14-0073Resolution of the Council of the City Of Hampton, Virginia Confirming the Declaration of a Local Emergency Made Necessary by Winter Storm Leon and Declared by the Hampton Director of Emergency Management on January 28, 2014
ACTION: Adopted

ACTION: Appointed Vanessa T. Valldejuli as City Attorney.

3.14-0097Motion authorizing the Mayor to finalize negotiations and sign a contract of employment with the applicant appointed as City Attorney.
ACTION: Approved - Following this vote, Council took a brief recess to reset the room for the retreat portion of the agenda.
