Call to Order
Annual Joint Session of the Hampton City Council and Board of Commissioners of the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority to Discuss Housing and Redevelopment Goals and Strategies.
Presented by staff of the City of Hampton and the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
Mayor Wallace called the meeting to order at 10:31 a.m. The Council Clerk called roll with all members of the City Council being present. Louis Morris, Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (HRHA) called their meeting to order and their Clerk called roll. Walt Credle was not present at roll call.
The following individuals were present when the meeting convened:
Hampton City Council: Linda Curtis, Billy Hobbs, Will Moffett, Teresa Schmidt, Chris Snead, Donnie Tuck and George Wallace
Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority: Stephen Adams, Steve Brown, James Eason, Louis Morris, Eunice Peele and Valarie Purcell.
City of Hampton staff present were: Mary Bunting, Vanessa Valldejuli, Jonathan McBride, Katherine Glass, Jennifer Green, Brian DeProfio, Pete Peterson, Robin McCormick, Laura Fitzpatrick, Steve Bond, Terry O'Neill, Trish Melochick, Leonard Sledge, Daniel McCormick, Keith Cannady, Bonnie Brown, and Susan Borland.
HRHA staff present were: Ron Jackson, Joyce Melvin-Jones, Meredith Clark, Yvonne Hodges, Liane Cramer, Nancy Burleson, and Ray Suttle, Jr.
Ryan Murphy of the Daily Press was also present.
Closed session pursuant to Virginia Code Sections 2.2-3711.A.1, .3, and .7 to discuss a personnel matter and City Council appointees; to discuss the acquisition of real property for a public purpose and/or the disposition of publicly held real property in the master plan areas of Buckroe, Coliseum Central, Downtown Hampton, North King Street Corridor, Phoebus, and the Kecoughtan Corridor and in the areas of LaSalle Avenue, Downtown Hampton, Wythe, and Pembroke Avenue, where discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect the bargaining position or negotiating strategy of the City Council; and to consult with legal counsel on specific matters involving special events, outside agencies receiving funding from Hampton, Section 8, and conservation areas which require the provision of legal advice by legal counsel.
Approved - entered closed session at 12:43 p.m. HRHA departed at 3:31 p.m.
