MAYOR'S COMMENTS
  Councilman Tignor thanked his fellow members of Council and the City staff for their support and assistance during the illness of his wife, Suzanne, and thanked the citizens of Hampton for turning out in huge numbers to celebrate the life of his wife. This was of great comfort to his family.

The Mayor recognized Ian James, a Boy Scout attending tonight's meeting as he earns his final badge before becoming an Eagle Scout.

Mayor Kearney also expressed that Council is keeping Councilman Turner Spencer and his wife, Lottie, in their prayers.

ACTION: Moved to amend Resolution Number 04-0354 adopted June 2, 2004, which authorized the transfer of five parcels of land located in the downtown section of the City of Hampton to the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority, to delete one parcel generally described as "Carousel Park" and further described as that parcel of land containing approximately 0.26 acres± and located generally East of South King Street and South of Settlers Landing Road and shown hatched on the drawing, entitled, "Property at Settlers Landing Road and South King Street," and which was attached to the written notice of this motion previously given. (See attachment).

Audiences Granted to the General Public
  Teresa Roundy spoke about the Barnes Cemetery matter and invited Council to a parade in Fox Hill on April 29, 2006.

David Braunbeck spoke about Verizon bringing digital cable to the area. He also spoke about a sidewalk issue near Langley Federal Credit Union.

Frank J. Ottafaro spoke about ways the City is spending money that he is not in favor of.

Miscellaneous New Business
  Councilwoman Leary read, for the record, information from Chief Jordan, responsive to questions raised by Frank J. Ottofaro.

Councilwoman Leary also requested a letter of congratulations for Dr. Billy Cannaday who has been appointed by Governor Kaine as State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

She reminded citizens that April is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month and she hopes citizens will wear blue ribbons.

The Mayor reminded citizens to visit the International Children's Festival at Mill Point Park which will take place this Saturday.
