Councilwoman Leary mentioned that Council had received a letter from taxi cab companies on August 6, 2005, and she'd like Council to consider a $1.00 surcharge per trip. Mr. Burton has prepared an ordinance based on what Norfolk did which allows for a $1.00 surcharge per trip. The City Manager also has the discretion to drop that if prices go down. The City Attorney has drafted an ordinance to be considered in the Evening Session.

Councilman Tignor indicated that he had received a letter from an old friend, Nelson Farley, who sent a check for $2,000 for the purchase of almonds. The City Manager will take the matter to the Employee Council for a recommendation. If we do accept the gift, it will require Council action so this may appear on a future Council agenda.

Councilman Gilliland would like action taken tonight to adopt the Finance Committee's proposed policy.

The City Attorney indicated he had a letter from Mark Williamson, that the title had been signed and received to the Sandler/Crossroads property.
