Joint Meeting of Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (HRHA) and Hampton City Council

Call to Order
  Mayor Kearney called the meeting of the Hampton City Council to order and then Eleanor Weston Brown, Chairman of the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (HRHA) Board of Commissioners called their meeting to order. This was a joint session.

The following members of the Hampton City Council were in attendance: Mayor Kearney, Vice Mayor Gilliland, Councilwoman Leary and Councilman Washington. Councilman Sapp was not present when the roll was called but arrived shortly after the meeting convened. Councilman Spencer and Councilman Tignor were out of town. Clerk of Council, Katherine Glass, was also present.

The following members of the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority Board of Commissioners were present: Eleanor Brown, Tie Coleman, Kathy Goode, Rebecca Grossman, Will Moffitt, Louis Morris and Len Nicholson. Frank Lofurno, Director of HRHA, and Karen Bureman, Clerk, were also present. Chief Deputy City Attorney Sally Andrews attended on behalf of Joyce Melvin-Jones.

Also in attendance were Jesse T. Wallace, Jr., City Manager; Cynthia Hudson, City Attorney; James A. "Pete" Peterson, Assistant City Manager; and Vanessa Valldejuli, Deputy City Attorney.

Paul Campsen and David Mumford were also in attendance.
  

Closed Meeting
07-0421Closed Session Pursuant to Virginia Code Section 2.2-3711a.3 and .7 to Consider the Acquisition of Real Property in the Downtown Hampton Area for a Public Purpose Where Discussion in an Open Meeting Would Adversely Effect the Bargaining Position or Negotiating Strategy of the City and to Consult with Legal Council and Consultants Regarding Actual Litigation Where Such Consultation or Briefing in Open Meeting Would Adversely Effect the Negotiating or Litigating Posture of the City.
