ACTION: Presented by Councilwoman Angela Leary. Councilwoman Leary and the City Attorney will continue to investigate options and will report back to Council at a later date.
9.06-0365Update on Hurricane Preparedness Meeting at HRCC
ACTION: Presented by Councilwoman Angela Leary. Councilwoman Leary also provided information on an Open House with local amateur radio operators which will take place on June 23 and 24, 2006.
New Business
  The Mayor asked if there was a consensus about the removal of the 'no parking' signs on North First Street so that direction could be given to the City Manager. The consensus of Council was to direct that the City Manager leave the 'no parking' signs in place. The issue of meaningful public access must still be addressed.

Councilman Gilliland spoke about accessible housing for the disabled and suggested that the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority take the lead on this issue and that Councilman-Elect Paige V. Washington and Councilman Gilliland serve as a subcommittee on this.

Councilwoman Leary read an announcement about Hampton Citizens Appreciation Day which will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2006, where Hampton residents will have free admission to many Downtown amenities.

Councilman Tignor asked that Council set time to discuss refunding monies from tax sales and that Council also study the boat tax.

Councilman Turner Spencer congratulated the City Manager and his staff for obtaining a grant allowing the purchase of four buses to be used in the Coliseum Convention Center area for circular service.

Councilwoman Leary indicated her support of the Rivermont School.
